Messiah in the Fall Feasts of Israel

Messiah in the Fall Feasts of Israel

This topic can be presented in one or a series of messages that explain how the Messiah is related to the following Appointed Times of the Hebrew calendar. The blowing of the shofar (trumpet) is included.

  • Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets), which celebrates the beginning of the Jewish Civil year, recalling a solemn assembly in ancient Israel in preparation for the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), pointing us to the sounding of the final Trumpet, preparing our hearts for that Day.

  • Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), considered the holiest day of the Jewish year, commemorating the work of Israel's high priest, pointing us to the atoning work of our Great High Priest (Jesus), and to the Day we all must stand before the Throne.

  • Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles), which recalls 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, living in tents (booths) and worshiping in a portable tabernacle. As the great harvest festival in ancient Israel, Sukkot reminds us of God's continual providence, and points us to the day when "the tabernacle of God is with men."
